Synopsis

Young surfer Nancy (Blake Lively) travels to a secluded beach in search of a secret spot that her mother had discovered years earlier. While paddling out into the waves, she is hunted by a great white shark and stranded on an embankment away from the shoreline. Alone and wounded, she attempts to survive the attack and get ashore in this thriller directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.

 Synopsis

Following a car accident, Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) awakens in the basement fallout shelter of a conspiracy-crazed man (John Goodman) who claims to have saved her from the wreckage of the crash. He also informs her that a chemical attack has devastated the surrounding area, rendering the outside world uninhabitable. Emmett (John Gallagher Jr.), who barely made it into the shelter, corroborates this version of events, but Michelle remains suspicious. As the dynamics within the bunker continually shift, she begins to doubt the truth of both what's happening in the shelter and in the outside world. Dan Trachtenberg made his feature-length debut with this semi-sequel sci-fi thriller, produced by J.J. Abrams and written by Josh Campbell, Matthew Stuecken, and Damien Chazelle.

Later, she realizes that this fearsome entity is connected to her mentally ill mother (Maria Bello), who has started hallucinating conversations with a mysterious figure named Diana. Billy Burke and Alexander DiPersia co-star. Produced by James Wan (The Conjuring), Lights Out is a feature-length expansion of director David F. Sandberg's short film of the same name, which became a viral sensation online.
